"For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God." –

 Jn 3:20-21

WEEKDAY MASSES: Monday thru Friday we have Mass at 7am and at 12:10 pm. Come and join us in worship of the Father with Jesus.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:

Tuesday from after the 7am Mass until 9pm we invite you to come and spend some time with the Lord. Every evening we conclude with Night Prayers around 8:30pm. Come and pray the Prayer of the Church with us. Maybe you have been busy all day with many things. Take a little time in the evening and come and share your day with the Lord.

LENTEN CONCERT SERIES: On Wednesdays at 11:30 to 12 noon in the church, by Ellen Linn, our music director. A wonderful way to

 prepare for noon Mass.

RICE BOWLS: There are extra Rice Bowls in the vestibule of the church. Pick some up and use them at home to help the hungry of the world. CRS (Catholic Relief Services) sent a notice in the mail last week outlining the need in Africa for food. They listed 29 countries in Africa that suffer from starvation because of drought, refugees and civil unrest. Helping children born of parents with AIDS is another project of CRS. They found that for $200 a year they can give a child the medicine he/she needs to live. In Lesotho, 261 children received this medicine last year. Perhaps 8000 more need it this year. Use the Rice Bowl to help.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1st at 9AM and 11AM. Fourth grade students (and non-second graders) and their families will come together to share in this healing sacrament. Please keep them in your prayers.

FAMILY PROGRAM: Our final gathering will be on Palm Sunday, April 9th beginning at 4:00 PM with Mass and followed by a Pot Luck Supper in the Parish Center Hall.  Watch your mail for complete details!

Lenten Stations of the Cross for Families

Friday, March 31st, 2006

Designed specifically for young families, we will meet in the Church at 6:30 pm for Stations of the Cross. At 7pm we will move to the Parish Center for clam chowder, rolls, salad, drinks and PB&J for the kids. Music and a dancing area will be set up for active children to enjoy themselves after their meal. Having held these for the last seven years, this is always a fun family experience. In order to plan for the food, please call Julie Basque (366-8509) to sign up (by Wed., March 29th). When you call please let us know if your family can contribute either a dessert or a salad to share.

Attention First Time Mothers: We will be offering our popular New Mother’s Group again this Spring. All are welcome. We meet at the parish center weekly for four weeks and focus on specific topics, such as feeding, sleep(!), stress and changes in relationships. Babies come too. This is a wonderful way to meet other new mothers. If you are interested or would just like more information, please call Julie Basque, parish nurse, at 508-366-8509, ext. 4.

WHO BELONGS TO ST. LUKE’S

Our census figures show that we have parishioners living in 29 communities in Massachusetts. The biggest number is, of course, Westborough which has 1910 parishioners. After that it is Northboro with 50; No. Grafton with 44, Shrewsbury with 43, Hopkinton with 38, Marlborough with 6 and Upton with 9. All others are singles or doubles. There are any number of people in Westboro who belong to parishes in other communities also. According to Church Law, you automatically belong to the parish within whose boundaries you live. But you can choose to join another parish, simply by notifying the new parish. We are very happy that people have the freedom to join the parish where they feel most comfortable, that speaks to their needs, and that calls forth their best efforts.
