A Message from Fr. Steven: "Recently, I had the opportunity of participating in an international gathering of delegates in Quebec City to plan the 49th International Eucharistic Congress. The Congress, which will be held from June 15-22, 2008 in Quebec City, will be a worldwide gathering focused on the meaning of the Eucharist in the life of the Church. The congress will include theological symposiums, workshops on prayer and worship, concerts, and numerous liturgies reflecting the varied linguistic and cultural communities of the participants. The closing outdoor Mass will very likely be celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI. Together with the Diocese of Worcester, I will be organizing a group to participate in the Congress. It is important to note that the Congress is part of a year-long celebration commemorating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec. As such, the Congress will also provide an opportunity for participants to explore the rich religious and cultural heritage of Quebec. It will invite the participants to recognize the spiritual contributions of New France to the wider Church. More information will be forthcoming within the next few months.
