Select an Item from the left (more updates coming)...
As you know, St Luke's Parish has "adopted" the orphanage in Haiti as one of our outreach places to support financially and spiritually. During Lent we will be collecting items and monetary donations. We are asking all of our religious education classes to donate needed items and or money for the orphanage.
Some of the items needed for the 525 children ranging in age from birth to 16 are:
socks (not white)
t-shirts
sweatshirts
hair elastics
barrettes
cloth diapers (no paper diapers)
bibs
teething toys
wash cloths
Items can be dropped in the Parish Center or in the Garage next to the Rectory. [ There will be a box labelled " HAITI" inside the Garage ].
We will also be collecting items and monetary donations all through Lent 2007.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and caring for all of the orphans who so desperately need our support and love.
Blessings,
Dianne Patrick & Gloria Josephs.

General Message to Parents:
It is our philosophy that Religious Education is really a family affair. More directly, it is your responsibility as parent or guardian to raise your child in a manner consistent with God's will and commandments. Our role as Religious Education teachers and volunteers is to help you accomplish this important task. However the responsibility starts and ends with you. Every moment your child spends with you is a moment that can be used to reinforce the importance of God in our lives. With all of the emphasis in TV and everywhere on material things it is important your child sees you value spiritual things. It doesn't need to be boring or academic in nature. For example, if you are outdoors, recognize that the beauty around us (flowers, frost, nature, the skies, etc) are an expression of God's love for us. It is also important you demonstrate that one hour of religious education a week is a small but valuable offering.
Take interest on your child's classes. Ask them to discuss what they covered in class, get involved in their learning. For example, at the end of every lesson there is a page and assignment that your child needs to complete at home with the other members of the family. Please make sure that you review that page with your child every week.
