Do you desire to find purpose and meaning in your adult spiritual life? Whether one is taking new steps from adolescence into adulthood, building family or vocational milestones in the daily walk of midlife, or reflecting upon life experiences within the later years, what remains constant in our Catholic faith Tradition is the loving and merciful invitation from God to follow Jesus Christ.
Adult studies at St. Luke’s aims to provide learning, reflection, and sharing opportunities in both large and small group gatherings to help adults grow in relationship with Christ. Such opportunities range from Bible Studies that enrich your understanding of Sacred Scripture, to Catholic teachings that help us better appreciate essential and mystical components of our rich Catholic Tradition, to casual small group gatherings that allow participants to gain practical life application from the mass readings, classic and modern Christian literature, and all sorts of spiritual topics related growing in Christ.
Meeting together in this way not only builds our knowledge of God but strengthens our faith, brings transformation to our spiritual lives, imparts a sense of community among participants, and ultimately enables us to be close to God and an encouragement to those around us.
Please consider joining no matter what adult stage of life you are at. While the amount of offerings vary throughout the year, new ideas for adult studies at St. Luke’s are ever growing.

The Screwtape Letters
Written while Britain was under attack during World War II, “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis first appeared in February 1942. The book is a collection of fictional letters between a devil, Screwtape, and his demon nephew, named Wormwood. Though fictional, their 31 letters explore how Christians deal with temptation and how they resist it, ultimately revealing the secret of God’s genuine love for humanity. Reading this book can feel much like an examination of conscience, sprinkled with C.S. Lewis’ humor and dry wit. It is likely to illuminate the ways in which we are tempted to sin while also leaving us with a lasting reminder of the presence of Christ in our lives, always calling us back to Himself.
Books: Please purchase a copy of The Screwtape Letters HERE
We will also reference the Catechism during our study so please have a copy available to reference (can be referenced off a device).
Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant
Embark on a guided tour of the “Holy of Holies” of biblical theology. The book of Hebrews is like a little Catechism. It is steeped in rich truths that are foundational to our Catholic Faith, but its highly refined theological concepts can be difficult for even the most seasoned Bible scholars to unpack.
Presented by Andrew Swafford and Jeff Cavins, Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant draws out the riches of this sublime book in a way that makes them easier to understand. It draws connections between the Old and New Testaments, the Liturgy, the Eucharist, the priesthood, and so much more. Most importantly, Hebrews will help Catholics appreciate the astounding generosity of God as they see the wonders he has given us in the Church.
