People in the program, referred to as candidates, come from other Christian traditions or may have been baptized Catholic; and others, the catechumens, are unbaptized.
Their journey of faith can be an inspiration to the rest of the faithful at St. Luke's parish. Our candidates and catechumens are visible signs of our faith community, Christ's Church, growing and becoming enriched.
This ministry needs volunteers to act as sponsors. You will work with the candidate and help support them on their journey of faith.

RCIA Inquiry Sessions are held weekly on Tuesday evenings starting October 1, 2024, from 7:30--9:00 PM at St. Luke's Parish Center, Room 23.
No need to register -- just show up!
Weekly Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) inquiry sessions begin Tuesday evening October 1, 2024, at 7:30 PM in room 23 of the Parish Center. If you are not already a member of the Catholic faith community (or perhaps no Christian faith community), this is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Christian faith in the Catholic tradition. All are welcomed!
There is no obligation or pressure to “become Catholic.” For those who choose, RCIA can provide a path to the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Others may just want to learn more about what it means to be Christian in the Catholic faith tradition, and that’s fine, too.
For those of you who are Catholic and have received all your sacraments, please gently mention RCIA to any people you meet who you sense may be looking for spiritual direction in their lives or express an interest in exploring Christianity in the Catholic faith tradition. We would be delighted to meet them! And again, they should never feel any pressure to “become Catholic.” Also, we are available to meet inquirers year-round – no need to wait until the fall! There will be a name change this year from RCIA to OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults). Don’t worry, it’s essentially the same process but ever more geared to the spiritual needs of individuals.
There is no need to register – inquirers are welcomed to just go to the parish center and walk into room 23 Tuesday October 1 at 7:30 PM, where we will look forward to meeting you!

We have been blessed to have many people participate in the RCIA program at St. Luke’s. Here are a few of them with brief testimonials of their experiences:
