The Diocese of Worcester created Safe Environment Program to promote awareness of sexual abuse, prevent abuse, and encourage survivors of abuse to seek the healing they deserve. This Program covers educational training, background screening (CORI), and acknowledgment of the Code of Ministerial Conduct. Visiting clergy from other dioceses or religious orders are required to obtain a letter of suitability from their superior attesting to their fulfillment of these areas. This letter is required in advance in order to participate in any functions including liturgies.
The following people must complete the Safe Environment Program to work or volunteer in the Diocese of Worcester, its parishes, and its organizations:
Bishop(s)
Priests and Deacons
Seminarians
Religious priests, brothers, and sisters
