Our church organ, which is located in the choir loft, was built by the Rogers Organ Company of Hillsboro, Oregon. It was dedicated in 1991. This instrument is one of a series of new "digital imaging" organs: the Oxford 945 model (three manuals) built by the Rogers Company. It is interfaced to control up to sixty seven ranks of organ pipes.
In one of the stairways leading to the choir loft there is a stained glass window with an image of Saint Cecilia. She is considered the patron saint of music.
Directly above the organ is a rose window depicting Saint Luke the Evangelist, patron of the parish. According to tradition, Luke wrote the third gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. Some scholars believe him to be a native of Antioch. The apostle Paul calls him "our beloved physician" (Colossians 4:14). He accompanied Paul on his dangerous journey to Rome where he was a faithful companion. "Only Luke is with me," Paul writes (2 Timothy 4,11).
Lord God of Glory,
your Church on earth join with choirs of heaven
in giving you thanks and praise.
As we gather to worship you in wonder and awe,
may the songs on our lips echo the music
that swells in our hearts.
Unite us in melodies that raise our hearts to you.
