The purpose of the Religious Education Program is to perpetuate Roman Catholic Christian faith formation for children and families. The program is under the direction of Dianne Patrick. A large number of volunteer catechists who teach, helpers who assist as aides, and weekend office helpers are always needed and most welcome. Training is provided. You do not need to have children enrolled in the program to volunteer. Empty nesters and retirees are encouraged to join us. Let the Holy Spirit move you to join this priceless ministry.
Regular Program: This program reaches from pre-kindergarten through grade six with classes offered on Sunday mornings and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Catechists and office volunteers are needed.
Family Program: Families gather once a month for catechesis which includes preschoolers through adults in a family. Catechists are needed for the children’s catechesis.
Cathechesis of the Good Shepard: Individuals who are interested in working with children ages three to six in our Montessori inspired Atrium should contact Dianne Patrick for information about training.
Sacramental Preparation: Classes are offered separately for students on Saturdays. Catechists are needed for the preparation of students for both Reconciliation and Eucharist. Preparation is offered for second graders and non-second graders.
SPRED (Special Religious Development Program): This is a Diocesan program. The program makes religious activities and faith development available to persons with developmental disabilities and/or learning disabilities. Helper catechists work one on one with an individual under the guidance of two lead catechists. Contact Dianne Patrick if interested in volunteering for this new program.
A complete schedule of classes is available at the Religious Education Office located in the Parish Center. The St. Luke’s Religious Education handbook is also available with complete descriptions of the many programs and options offered to families.
